Sustainability at Avonova

We embed sustainability into everything we do, promoting social responsibility, upholding strong governance, and reducing our environmental footprint. By combining workplace health expertise with sustainable practices, we create lasting value for our clients, their employees, and the societies at large across the Nordics.

Our customer’s well-being is the heart of our business

By placing employee health, both physical and mental, alongside environmental protection, we recognize that true ESG goes beyond green metrics. It demands a social transformation in which companies actively invest in their people’s well-being and embed clear, accountable governance structures to guarantee transparency.

Avonova clearly contributes to healthier and more sustainable workplaces, benefiting customers, their employees, and society at large. This relates directly to UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals for good health and well-being in organisations.

ESG – Three levers to a sustainable future

ESG is a concept composed of three cornerstones of sustainability – Environmental, Social, and Governance. At Avonova each of these components becomes important for creating a safe, sustainable, and thriving environment both within the company and for the society at large.

Governance

Enforcing transparent policies, regular compliance audits, and clear accountability channels.

Social responsibility

Embedding occupational health and safety into our DNA, promoting mental-health support, and nurturing inclusive cultures.

Environment

Proactively reducing greenhouse gas emissions, by energy efficiency initiatives, less energy consuming ways of working, and use of renewable energy.

Learn more about how we work with these three areas under each category

Environment

The environmental aspect concerns how business activities affect nature and how a sustainable environment can protect and improve people’s health. By reducing emissions, minimizing waste, investing in renewable energy, and creating cleaner delivery processes, we reduce negative climate impact.

Avonova is a service company committed to the climate by enforcing strict train travel policies, waste recycling, renewable energy use, and eliminating personal company cars (only having electrical pool cars). Having digital delivery capabilities (mainly client interventions over video) for all delivery staff, and promoting this, also reduces emissions for both us and our customers.

Social responsibility

The social dimension covers the relationships between the company and its stakeholders, including employees, customers, and communities. And here, health plays a key role, for instance by promoting a safe and healthy work environment. Working under secure and supportive conditions contributes to reducing stress, burnout, and physical injuries. Companies invest in preventive measures, such as occupational health services, ergonomic workplaces, and rehabilitation programs, which not only decrease absenteeism but also improve overall workplace satisfaction.

Avonova’s largest impact in this domain is clearly our regular core business with our clients and the wellbeing of their employees. Within Avonova, we are committed to social sustainability through a focus on fairness and transparency with our employees, prioritization of safety concerns, and encouragement of trade union participation. Additionally, we prioritize wellness allowances and services (all those offered to Avonova clients), healthcare insurance, and incentives aimed at fostering motivation within the workplace.

Governance

Good corporate governance means that the company has clear policies, transparency, and ethical guidelines for its decision-making. Avonova does this both internally, but also by supporting our clients’ working environment regulatory compliance.

Being a large international healthcare company, compliance to regulation and our own strict policies is a key priority for minimising risks for customers, staff, investors/owners, and Avonova’s financial sustainability.

Key governance themes for Avonova:

  • IT and information security, with strict adherence to GDPR and the new NIS2 act.
  • Customer and our staff safety in our health interventions.
  • Compliance with Market Abuse Regulation (MAR), and financial disclosures regulation, as having a bond listed on the financial market.
  • Fairness and transperancy to our staff.

About our key steering documents

To ensure a common best practice in the whole of Avonova Group, key steering documents are implemented on a group level to ensure that Avonova adhere to high standards in every aspect of business and across all divisions.

In addition to the group steering documents, each division implements its own policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the group steering documents in everyday practice, as well as with any national legislation.

Information security policy

Companies that handle patient data are subject to both the GDPR and the Patient Data Act, which require that personal data be processed with strict security measures. Without a clear information security policy, it is impossible to systematically meet those requirements. Patient data is particularly sensitive and is subject to internal confidentiality. For example, a policy reduces the risk of unauthorized access and ensures that only authorized personnel can view medical records.

A policy that foster trust  Our customers and their employees should expect their health information to be handled confidentially. Adhering to a well-established policy, demonstrates that the organization takes data protection seriously and builds greater confidence, which is crucial for long-term customer relationships in occupational health services.

By defining procedures for backup, recovery, and incident reporting, an information security policy ensures high availability and rapid recovery in the event of operational disruptions or data breaches. This protects both patient care and company operations from interruptions.
